In the gay state, the danger of abusive police violence wouldn't disappear by itself - even the targeted groups would probably remain the same (with exception of the gays as "group"). It is not really a fantastic option, that some misguided gay police officers would make fun from bashing some socially marginallized group, e.g. poors or prostitutes. Therefore the gay self-administration would act wise to ban even the slightest notion that excessive violence, torture or sexual abuse of detainees might be tolerated. Every officer must know that there will be no pardon with him if he trespasses the close borders drawn by the law.

In a gay State,as in an heterosexual one,individuals wielding authority will in all likelyhood and occasionnally abuse it.Not only the police,but government officials as well.And they will not always be the initiators for that matter.They might be offered sexual favors by the general public,
in order to further certain interests or expedite more quickly and with less fuss certain administrative matters.Only when we will live in political
freedom and in a country of ours,will we discover wether our lifestyle and culture makes us more vulnerable than other nations to corruption and especially pornocracy.As a gay separatist,I accept no political advice from those who provide me with certain intense pleasures.But I cannot answer for other gays.

Well, I would suppose that this time the matter probably is not that much in straight vs. queer - the origins of abusive practices in the police and armed forces lie much deeper. The state gives to a closely defined group of people the exclusive right to apply force against citizens. By surrendering their right for immediate and armed self-protection to the state, citizens are well-advised to draw clear borders for competencies of police and soldiers. The only protection against arbitrary persecution and violence is the functioning civic society, whereby the members of armed forces and police are under strict social and institutional control.  If these officers are badly taught about their function in the state and are left without supervision, certain group dinamics develope into unwanted directions - they begin to feel superiour to other citizens and are the "choosen ones", indeed the state itself. If such notions find no clear condemnation by supervisors, friends, and families, indeed the society at large, a very dangerous state of mind solidifies in both the armed forces/police and the society at large. If in a family of an officer it is absolutely normal to regard homeless persons, gays or junkies as ab initio inferior beings, the officer with high probability might engage in mistreatment of members of these groups.

This is, of course, a rhetorical question. Two police officers did dare to commit such a rape. Either there is no functioning civic society in the city of Chicago, or we must re-define what we mean by 'civilized.'

The situation is such that heterosexuals hold all the cards,and we not a single one.In any setting where we live alongside heterosexuals,they hold the numbers,and wield the demographic and political power.They therefore decide wether they will mollycoddle or abuse us,depending upon their pleasure.When heterosexuals are happy,they tend to tolerate us.Because,precisely,*they* are happy,not because of our pretty faces.But when they aren`t happy and looking for scapegoats,they are likely to apply their talent (sic) for abuse upon people who possess no power to retaliate.Only in a gay independent country such a situation could be corrected.

How is it possible, that in a democratic country with functioning civic society 2 police officers dare to commit a rape in the office room and think they can get away with this? They must have been very sure that they will not face any troubles by their collegues and supeiriors - this being possible only when homophobia, racism and abuse of detainees are absolutely normal in the eyes of the entire department. This moral decay is not unknown at other countries, too - which brings up the question of how civilized are our "civilized countries" really.

It does not matter whether somebody is straight or queer, rich or poor, brave tax payer or criminal, citizen or foreigner - no human being must be deprived of his basic human rights and dignity. The origin of all cruelties is in people beging to separate humans into "us" and "them" under the premise that "they" are less sensitive to torture, rape and abuse. Though punishment of trespassers is very important, the only way to prevent such excessive violence is to teach people what is right and what is wrong. As long as religious fundamentalists are allowed to publicly preach hate and disdain for LGBT people (and others), the sadists will feel encouraged by the society to bash, rape and kill and get away with this.

This much to the mythos that gays are especially wealthy. Surely: the visible, successfull and self-confident part of LGBT community might have more money left than their hetero friends with children. The others, who are  poor and invisible, simply do not appear in the statistics. And, being poor is a security reason in almost every country.

Amnesty International has issued a press release about a report on police abuses against people on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The report “Stonewalled – Still demanding respect” is based on interviews conducted by Amnesty International (AI) between 2003 and 2005 with members of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, victims of gender-based violence, survivors of police abuse, activists, lawyers and law enforcement officials across the US.

“The interviews reveal a very clear and worrying pattern. Cases of beatings, sexual violence, verbal abuse, harassment and humiliation by law enforcement officials against LGBT people take place on any given day in detention centres, prisons, in the home, and on the street,” said Amnesty International.
