Would 27 January be OK?

It would be more than just OK. The 27 January is in every way to be preferred.

Very wel - these days shall be added to the listing as very suitable ones.

The Soviet Army has freed on 27 January 1945 the prisoners of the KZ Auschwitz, on 11 November 1938 a Reichskristallnacht - with Germany-wide pogroms on Jewish fellow citizens - took place. I would suggest to keep the 27 January as the Remembrance Day for the Victims of National Socialism (instead of 11 November) out of two reasons:

  • 27 January is recognized by the UN as official day of remembrance, and
  • 11 November is indeed a very meaningful day for holocaust victims, but does not have the same symbolics for other groups of victims.

Would 27 January be OK?

P.S. The resolution of the General Assembly can be found here.

A certain kingdom in the South Pacific had proposed, among other observances, World AIDS Day (1 December) and Holocaust and Remembrance Day (11 November). While remembrance of the Holocaust is ordinarily observed on 27 January, there is something to be said for altering the ordinary associations of Remembrance Day on 11 November.

Being the cranky sort, I am in the habit of observing the White Night Riots on 21 May and Harvey Milk's birthday on 22 May.

Gay Celebrations / History Timetable

We have added a webpage called timetable to our Foundation-website. However, the actual content is rather humble yet: 3 gay and lesbian holidays are somewhat poor, aren't they?

Generally, we are intended to create 2 separate divisions in this section:

  • Gay and Lesbian Celebration Days (repeating each year, thus in a form of a calendar), and
  • Timetable of Gay and Lesbian History (important happenings in their chronological appearence).

Please post your suggestions for enties here.
